Giant Wall Calendar (official guide)

Things that make the heart beat a little faster:

  • Seeing a million stars on a clear night in a remote spot

  • Seeing the person you love looking gorgeous

  • Feeling the weight of your child over your heart

  • The first smell of coffee in the morning

  • A giant wall calendar showing the entire year ahead

That last one is a little nerdy but it’s true. There’s just *something* about seeing that fresh year laid out in front of you in a giant format.

I’ve got great news for you, fellow calendar nerds: I’m about to make your heart skip a beat.

Let me introduce you to the giant wall calendar.

If we are doing a TL;DR version:

I designed these for you to purchase as a PDF download. In one purchase, there are six (6) different versions for you to choose from. Using a local office store, have it printed as a Blueprint size. From there, you can frame it in a poster frame, and use wet erase markers to plan out your year.

Sounds awesome, right? Let me take you step by step.

Here's a closer look at all those options.

Printing Your Giant Wall Calendar

Here’s the part that might be a little intimidating but I promise you can do it! Let’s walk through it together.

First, identify the local office store you want to have these printed through. Common stores are Office Depot, Office Max, or The UPS Store. I’m going to show you how to do it through Office Depot.

Hover over “Services” > Print & Copy > Blueprints (under “Document Printing)

This brings you to the product page, labeled “Blueprint, 24 LB.” Click Customize underneath the price.

This brings you to the place to upload your calendar. Don’t panic - you’re doing great.

Here’s what to do:

  1. Upload Your File. In the middle of the page are the upload options. If you downloaded them from your email, they should be in your download folder, so you can choose “My device.” Find the PDF calendar layout you want and choose it. It will show you a preview image once it’s uploaded. You can add more than one file/calendar at this step as well.

  2. Name your project. I just put “2026 Giant Calendar”

  3. Pages: 1 (even if you print more than one calendar, each calendar is only 1 page)

  4. Quantity: 1 (unless you want more!)

  5. Paper size: ARCH D - 24” x 36”

  6. Paper Type:24 lb Blueprint Paper

  7. Fit Paper: Keep Size

  8. Color: Black & White (my designs are all in greyscale, so no color necessary)

  9. Orientation: This depends on what design you choose. Some of them are landscape and some are portrait. Here’s what to choose, depending on what I named the file:

    1. Horizontal = Landscape

    2. Vertical = Portrait

  10. Toggle to Tab 2: Finishing Options. On the Office Depot website, you can click on this 2nd tab for further options. In this tab, you can choose to have your document stapled (obviously not for our circumstances) orlaminated! If you don’t want to deal with framing it, then laminating it is an excellent option! You can still use wet (recommended) or dry erase markers for this option.

  11. Note: Tab 3 (Advanced Options). This tab doesn’t have anything pertinent to our project, but you can remove pages or add any special instructions here.

  12. ClickAdd to Cart

  13. Proceed to Checkout. Click this option to checkout. You can choose to have your calendar delivered or pick it up. If you choose to pick it up, they generally get it printed fast (same or next day).

That’s it! The hardest part is over once you do this. All you have to do it pick it up or wait for it to be delivered now.

Framing Your Giant Wall Calendar

Now you have your truly giant wall calendar as a massive sheet of paper. Unless you had it laminated. For this step, we’re assuming it's not laminated (and if it is, move on to the next section).

You can either use your calendar as-is, which is totally acceptable but risky if you’re using anything other than pencil. I suppose you could use Frixion pens and highlighters, which will erase.

I’d recommend you frame it. This will protect the paper AND allow the most flexibility throughout the year.

You’ll want to buy a poster frame. Channel your inner teenager (assuming you were a teen in the early 2000s or before) and think of the posters you’d buy at Spencers.  I had a shirtless Eminem one. My AIM name was also HPMShady85. My favorite movie was 8 Mile. Can you see a theme here? So cringe.

I hate to link something that can easily disappear but let’s try it. You can get this poster frame from Target, or  this one from Walmart, or  this one from Michaels. I literally typed “poster frame [store]” into Google to get all these.

Upon bringing said frame home, you simply put your brand spankin’ new calendar in there and voila! And by simply, I mean, it’s kinda annoying because it’s all curly, and you inevitably have to slightly fold one side.

Pro tip: a teeny-tiny piece of double-sided tape in the corners comes in clutch to hold it in place.

Planning on Your Giant Wall Calendar

Do you think I’ve said “giant wall calendar” enough for the SEO and AI machine? Hopefully.

That was a side note.

We’ve also come upon the point in our blog writing where I’ve had too much caffeine and not enough food. Please enjoy whatever shenanigans ensue as a result.

Anywhosieur.

Let’s recap. We bought the giant wall calendar on the Sprouted website. We printed it at our local office store. We bought a poster board frame. We framed our giant wall calendar in the poster frame. We are now ready to plan.

*plan instead of party. But planning is a party, amiright?!

You get to plan however the heck you want. Plus, it all depends on what you’re using this calendar for. Is this calendar hanging in your house’s command central? If so, how big of a house do you have? Salut.

Or are you using it for work? Or for tracking things? You know what? Now is probably the time to list what you could use this giant calendar for. Cue the music!

  • Projects: planning and managing

  • Goal setting

  • Entrepreneur boss stuff: planning launches, production, and what not.

  • Work schedules and/or vacations

  • Content planning

  • Tracking: symptoms, moods, appointments

  • Habit tracking

  • Health and fitness (workouts and weigh-ins)

  • Student life stuff

  • Family schedule

  • Money & budgeting

Personally, I use it for Sprouted Planner and business planning. I plan out my launches and key milestones I need/want to hit each month. Here’s the order I plan in. Adjust according to your needs/how you’re using it. But first, let’s talk supplies you’ll need.

Giant Calendar Planning Supplies

Every good planning session needs a solid mise en place (everything in its place). In other words, get yourself set up first.

Grab your supplies:

  • Wet erase markers

Wet erase markers will keep your plans on the board until you wipe them off with water and a rag. This is unlike dry erase markers where you can wipe those off with your finger or a slight brush of your shirt when you walk by. Even a wrong look could cause erasure of the dry erase markers. Just use wet erase and thank me later.

  • Microfiber cloth and water

Piggybacking off my above point, you’ll inevitably need to move or remove a plan, so you’ll need a wet cloth to wipe away the wet erase marker. You can use any cloth but microfiber is the gentlest.

  • Small Post-it Notes

Admittedly, this supply is extra, but it may be helpful. If you have tiny little Post-it Notes, you can easily map out and move around some plans before committing them to marker.

You could buy special small ones, or you could literally cut up a standard size sticky note to make it work.

  • Perpetual Calendar + Your Planner

If you don’t have a little perpetual calendar with everyone’s birthdays & important dates, then grab my free printable here. If you’ve set up your planner already, have that handy too. You may or may not use it.

  • Mood setting stuff

Music, candle, good drink. Don’t cheat yourself here. This is sacred time. I wrote that as a bit of exaggeration, BUT honestly, this would be a great time to pray over your year and see if God reveals anything to you. If that’s not your thing, then don’t do that but definitely get in on some good music, a favorite drink (get the fancy coffee), and light a bougie candle.

Big Dates First

You’re finally ready to make all the plans.

Start by adding all the big dates first:

  • Birthdays you typically celebrate

  • Anniversaries

  • Holidays

  • Vacations

  • If you have kids: school dates like Spring Break, first & last days of school, no school. Also, any sports stuff you know about.

Big Rock Commitments

The next parts completely depends on what you’re using this giant calendar for. Whatever it is, set some big rock commitments now.

For me and my business, these are my launches. Everything else in my business basically revolves around these launches.

For you, it may be projects you want to tackle this year. Or money priorities. Big goals.

By the end of the year, what do you want to show for it?

Intentions

With your big rocks in place, you can now fill in all the things you intend to do in order to make those big rocks happen.

Back to my business example: I’m filling when I need to be designing the planners, when I need to receive them by, my runway to launch marketing plans, etc.

Depending on what calendar layout you chose, you can also set themes or focuses next to the months. Even if you don’t necessarily have big rocks you’re planning around, these could be great mini-focuses, like:

  • January: Money

  • February: People

  • March: Vacation

The Final Touch: Hang It Up

You’ve done all the things and now it’s time to hang that sucker up. Where you hang it up depends completely on what you used the giant calendar for. I hang mine in my office because it’s full of business plans.

Or maybe you just hang it where you have the space. This thing ain’t small.

Either way, hang your beautiful plans up, and then step back and admire them.

As the very final thing: take a picture of it. That way, you can reference it on the go.

Watch on YouTube

Congratulations on making it all the way through the blog (and thank you for reading it!). I also made a video on the whole kitten caboodle process. You can watch that here!
